College Funding Planning
Paying for college is a financial planning problem, not only an admissions one. Most families face it under time pressure, with incomplete information, and without a clear view of how it collides with their own retirement. TRG works the financial side of that decision.
What This Includes
Student Aid Index (SAI) analysis. Your position under current federal need-analysis methodology, and what it means for aid eligibility.
Education savings strategy. 529 plan selection, funding, and account-ownership positioning.
Multi-year funding projections. Cash flow across the college years, not just the first tuition bill.
Coordination with the rest of your plan. How college funding interacts with retirement, investments, and tax-aware planning.
Merit aid and scholarship considerations. How they affect the family’s financial decisions.
Who It’s For
Families with children roughly ages 10 to 17 who are saving for college while still building retirement — particularly dual-income households where both goals compete for the same dollars.
How It’s Offered
One-time bundled engagement. A financial plan combined with a college funding strategy. Flat fee generally $1,500 to $3,000 depending on scope and complexity; generally 50% due at signing with the balance due on delivery.
Ongoing college funding retainer. Generally $1,500 to $3,000 per year, billed quarterly in advance. Covers periodic updates to the funding strategy, SAI re-modeling as your circumstances change, and access to the firm through the college years.
Important
College funding planning addresses financial planning matters only. Any academic, admissions, or college-advising services are separate, are not securities or investment advisory services, and are not provided by the Firm in its capacity as an investment adviser.
